Dr Bush became a partner at Eastham Group Practice in 1988 and is actively involved in teaching medical students, involved in many local PCT initiatives as she has an active interest in the care of the elderly and dementia. Her other interests include family planning and child health. |
Dr Michael Burke (m)
(Leicester 1983) M.B., Ch.B., D.C.H., M.R.C.G.P., Dip. Primary Care Rheum.
Dr Burke has been with the practice since 1989 and is involved with training the GPs of the future, both in practice and as a course organiser for the GP Vocational Training Scheme on Wirral. He has developed special interests and skills in musculoskeletal conditions, was involved with developing national guidelines for the treatment of osteoarthritis (the NICE guidelines) and is on the steering group for the Primary Care Rheumatology Society. |
Dr Jane Piggot (f)

Dr Piggot joined Eastham in 1994. She completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology at Cardiff University in 2006 and is a Clinical Assistant in Dermatology at Clatterbridge Hospital for one morning each week. |
Dr Margaret Porteous (f)
Edinburgh 1983, Qualifications M.B., Ch.B., M.R.C.G.P
Dr Porteous joined the practice in 1990. She has an interest in eye disease and have clinics at the ophthamology department at Arrowe Park Hospital. She is involved in teaching medical students from Liverpool University and the training of the practice's three GP registrars. |

Dr Cooke entered the partnership in 2002. She finds all aspects of general practice interesting but my special interests include Mental health, Family planning & Diabetes.Dr Cooke is also a GP trainer. |
Dr Paula Cowan (f)

Dr Cowan became a Partner in February 2003. She enjoys all areas of family practice but has a particular interest in family planning and Women's Health and is the practice lead for COPD and Asthma. She also trained in upper GI endoscopy. She combines her role as a Practice Partner with being on the board of the consortium of which the Practice is a Member - WHCC with being vice Chair of Wirral LMC. Dr Cowan has also been appointed as a member of the GP advisory Group to Wirral Hospital NHS Trust. |
Dr Sam Huddlestone (m)

Dr Huddlestone oined the practice in 2008. He is interested in all aspects of General Practice however he is developing a particular interest in musculoskeletal medicine and currently undertaking a Sports and Exercise Medicine Diploma at Bath University. |
GP Registrars
Eastham Group Practice is proud to be a GP Training practice. GP Registrars spend either 6 or 12 months with the practice. Our Registrars are fully qualified doctors usually with at least 4 years of experience in hospital medicine and who have chosen a career in general practice. We appreciate them for their energy, enthusiasm and keeping us on our toes with up to date medical practice! As a patient you may choose, or be offered, an appointment with the GP Registrar. |
